Norihiro Haruta

Norihiro Haruta is a Japanese photographer born in 1968. The series of pictures presented in the exhibition show Romania in 1990, right after the European Revolutions of 1989 that led to the fall of the Berlin Wall and thus the end of the Cold War. Haruta as a young man was fascinated by the events taking place in this part of the world. After visiting Berlin, he traveled to Romania, an exotic place for him, to capture the social transformations of this country on film. He kept regularly coming back to Bucharest and Horezu between 1990 and 2001. Since that time his photographs have been part of exhibitions in Romania and Japan.
